Zak formed his first band when he was 14 and started playing the current Seattle stuff like Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. The next year, he found some older musicians and began playing paying gigs at the local bars in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. After moving to Detroit in 2000, Zak played in a few local cover bands and then decided it was time to write his own material, and formed Fifth Way in 2007. Fifth Way released their debut album ‘No Boundaries’ in 2010 and opened for many national acts such as: Pop Evil, Saliva, Sick Puppies, Tesla, 3 Doors Down, Saving Abel, and Alter Bridge. Zak does still perform selectively with the band and is working on tracks for their sophomore release.

In 2013 he relocated to Milwaukee where he has played with local favorites: “King Kong” and the Eagles tribute act “Flight”. He joined The Clique in May of 2017 and is excited to help conitnue building the following and excitment that the band has already achieved.

Zak is an endorsed artist by DR Strings and Egnater Amplification.
